Gráinne Holland and Band
Macha’s Race
We welcome all ages to an evening of inspiring storytelling and music.
Experience the raw power of the legendary Irish goddess Macha as Gráinne Holland—a renowned Belfast singer, songwriter, and storyteller—weaves a spellbinding narrative combining music and story. Drawing on her deep roots in the tradition, Holland transports audiences to the ancient royal seat of Eamhain Mhacha (Navan Fort near Armagh), vividly reimagining the events of Macha’s forced race against King Conchubhar Mac Nessa’s swiftest horses.
Join Gráinne as she brings the tragedy of Macha, this ancient legend to life, offering an emotional and moving tribute to feminine strength that resonates long after the performance ends.
Gráinne is accompanied by a multi-talented group of musicians including Ciara Maguire (fiddle, vocals), Seosamh Mac (guitar), Emma Robinson (vocals, flute, whistle), Conor Lamb (Uilleann pipes, whistles), James Shields (electronic) and dancer Myfanwy Carville.
