Katie Melua, Ullalintulampi
Known for her beautiful voice and meticulously crafted folk-pop atmospheres, Katie Melua returns to Finland after a long wait. Huvila provides an intimate and idyllic setting for Melua's music, which draws inspiration from singular singer-songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Cat Stevens.
Often dubbed the "British Norah Jones," Melua arrives this time with her full band, who harmoniously punctuate the artist's expressive storytelling. The Georgian-born British musician’s performance is delicate and personal; her music is mature and melodic—touching upon jazz and pop—while her lyrics are wise, rooted in personal experience and life.
The evening opens with Ullalintulampi, whose unique expression and lyrics, stemming from observations of life’s small moments, set the perfect late-summer mood for Huvila.
