Joensuu City Theater is the most significant professional theater on its region. It is managed by the North Karelian Theatre Association. Theater operates in the heart of Joensuu, in Joensuu City Hall designed in by Eliel Saarinen. Performances are organized on two stages, a large stage and a small stage. In addition, there are active touring activities. On annual level 12-15 productions and around 300 shows are performed to 20000-30000 viewers.
