Sir Elwoodin hiljaiset värit, Ylva Haru
Helsinki Festival welcomes a band whose songs have painted the Finnish landscape for decades with gentle melancholy, warm humor, and stories that taste of life. Sir Elwoodin hiljaiset värit last performed at the festival in 1995, and this long-awaited return is an event not to be missed.
The Huvila show promises an atmospheric set of “medium-strength beer jazz” (keskiolutjatsi)—the band’s signature blend of swinging jazz, schlager tones, and gritty, poetic narration. Their songs linger in the pubs of Kallio, through long nights, in love, and out on the road. Live, the band is at its best when storytelling and building an intimate connection with the audience. The concert will feature hits from across the decades—songs that have accompanied the lives of several generations and whose choruses still resonate today.
Opening the evening is Ylva Haru, whose music is inspired by the sound of the sea. Her folk-pop and Americana-influenced songs are built on earthy guitar sounds, strong melodies, vocal harmonies, and poetic lyrics.
