Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana
A long-time favorite of the Helsinki Festival audience, Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana returns to Huvila. Led by Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen, this high-octane engine—pulsing at the intersection of jazz, hip-hop, funk, and soul—has been performing to sold-out venues with a refreshed lineup. In the autumn of 2025, the charismatic F (Fanni Sjöholm) joined the top-tier collective. The group’s core remains intact, featuring veteran rappers Paleface and Tommy Lindgren, backed by the big band’s expansive, precise, and effortlessly groovy sound. As a skilled rapper and singer, F brings a new perspective and color to the band, updating their look and sound for the present day.
Ricky-Tick Big Band was founded in 2010, and their journey with the Julkinen Sana lyricists began with the Burnaa album in 2013. Following a decision to disband in 2019, the group now makes a highly anticipated comeback with new energy and material. The first single, Sattuu ja tapahtuu, was released in January, offering a taste of the new album arriving in April.
