Carminho, Tuuletar
A titan of Portuguese folk music, Carminho arrives in Helsinki following the release of her new album, Eu vou morrer de amor ou resistir. As one of the most significant voices in modern fado, she uniquely blends the traditional, deeply melancholic style with soundscapes borrowed from other genres, utilizing electric instruments such as guitar and piano.
The internationally renowned Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía added further momentum to Carminho’s soaring career with their collaboration "Memória," featured on Rosalía's Lux album released in November. Carminho’s emotionally intense interpretation ranges from tender whispers to powerful, dynamic passages, drawing a tightly wound and passionate dramatic arc for the concert evening.
Opening the night is the internationally acclaimed Finnish a cappella ensemble Tuuletar. Known for their music appearing in the Game of Thrones series, they perform "vocal folk hop" tracks that combine folk music, beatboxing, and powerful vocal harmonies.
