Threshold States returns to Helsinki on 20 and 21 November 2026 at Caisa Cultural Centre. Produced by Flux Cultural Association in collaboration with Interkult, the festival brings together contemporary performance, sound art, movement, installation, audiovisual practices, screenings, and talks in a multidisciplinary programme that explores the complexities of living in transition.
Following the first edition, Panic Archive (2025), Resonance continues its exploration of urgent contemporary realities through multidisciplinary programming. This year's theme, Threshold States, turns toward conditions of suspension, instability, and transformation. The programme investigates moments when identities, bodies, and futures remain unresolved, shaped by migration, bureaucracy, ecological crisis, war, political conflict, and the uncertain temporalities of contemporary life.
Across performances, installations, screenings, and participatory formats, Resonance invites audiences to inhabit these in-between spaces. The festival showcases artists working at the forefront of experimental practice, creating works that blur boundaries between disciplines, challenge perception, and invite new ways of experiencing sound, space, and presence. Programmes unfold across Caisa's Main Hall and Auditorium, allowing audiences to move between live performances, screenings, and immersive artistic encounters. The festival takes place each evening from 18:00 to 23:00.
The artistic programme is curated through a hybrid model that combines direct invitations with an open call, reflecting Flux's commitment to both curatorial vision and discovering new voices. The open call will be published in early May through Flux Cultural Association's official social media channels.
Presented at Caisa during its 30th-anniversary year, Resonance engages with the centre's longstanding commitment to cultural diversity, accessibility, and artistic exchange. This shared commitment makes Caisa an especially meaningful setting for a festival dedicated to encounters across disciplines, communities, and lived experiences.
Resonance offers a space where urgent contemporary questions can be encountered through artistic experimentation, critical reflection, and shared presence. It is a platform for works that embrace uncertainty, provoke dialogue, and imagine new ways of sensing and being together.
